About Ethics Training

This course is intended for “state,” not “local,” government officials. This course will not provide ethics training credit for local officials.

State officials who wish to use this course to satisfy their mandatory ethics training requirement should first acquire approval from their agency. You should understand that reviewing your agency’s incompatible activities statement along with any conflict laws specific to your agency are part of satisfying your ethics training requirement.

State Bar Members: For members of the State Bar of California, the state officials ethics training course is certified for 1.5 hours of general self-study; it does not count towards MCLE ethics requirements. When you print your ethics completion certificate, you will also need to print, complete, and retain a separate MCLE Attendance/Participation Form. State Bar rule 2.73(B) requires members to document self-study by keeping a record of the title, provider, credit hours, and date of the activity for one year after submission to the State Bar.
